Meet Dr. Sara Macmillan PT, DPT
My name is Sara Underhill Macmillan and I would love to be a part of your healing journey. I graduated in 2006 from University of Tennessee Health Science Center with my Doctor of Physical Therapy. During school, I was fortunate enough to train with a pelvic health therapist and fell in love with this part of our profession. I truly believe good pelvic floor health is an important component of your quality of life. Each woman has a unique story that contributes to who she is; therefore, it is essential to have an individualized, holistic approach to treatment. I strive to provide this to all my patients and would be honored if you trust me to be a part of your journey toward better health. I love bringing hope, educating women about their bodies, empowering them, and helping women heal.
My pelvic floor education after graduation came from the Herman and Wallace Institute along with extensive manual therapy training including myofascial release, cranial sacral therapy, and visceral mobilization. I have given numerous professional pelvic floor presentations over the years to midwives, nurses, physicians, and doulas, as well as educating patients and how physical therapy can help them heal. My experience includes treating a wide variety of pelvic floor problems, including but not limited to pregnancy and post-partum, bladder and bowel problems, pelvic or vaginal pain, as well as back pain and other orthopedic problems. I have treated in a variety of spaces and clinics and am so excited to join Jenny to provide high quality, one on one care with an emphasis on a holistic approach.
In my free time, I love spending time with my husband and two kids which is often on the soccer field! Some of my other favorite things to do include traveling, singing, and spending time with friends.
Dr. Sara treats patients at our Franklin office inside FIAT Integrative Health on Tuesdays and Thursdays and offers in-home care on Wednesdays.
